后海 Hou Hai March 07

Houhai

An old area with a buzzing cafe & pub scene. Beautiful lake snakes through the ancient buildings. Chinese style bridges go over the lake. There are willow trees along the waterside, rickshaw driver. It has a mix of authentic run down hidden restaurants, cute little boutique shops and tacky touristy stuff. We had lemon tea. There are grey walls and the roofs look ancient some with yellow grass growing out of the awnings. There are doors elaborately painted with Chinese Opera make up. There was a grey wall with a grey dragon painted along it.

John my boyfriend has just come to Beijing and we spent the day here.

(The lion (tiger?) picture is at the Beijing Ancient Architecture Museum)

This museum is okay
One thing that makes it kinda cool is they have a miniature model of ancient Beijing
looking over the model I can recognise where certain train stations etc are today
So I think that is interesting
